A fun weekend workshop where you learn silversmithing. We will explore bug building in this two day class . You can build a bug ring, necklace brooch, bolo or small cuff in class. You decide if you want to build two smaller bug projects or focus your weekend on one larger project such as a bolo or cuff. The bug weekend teaches loads of skills to create your own jewelry. Explore the quirky town of Bisbee Arizona. Named the best small town in Arizona.

River Rock Ring Class
River Rock Ring Class 9/23 in Livingston Mt
Make a cool river rock ring and learn lots of new skills. Either bring your own special rock, flat is best or I have a bunch of beautiful rocks I’ve picked up off the Yellowstone , Gallatin and other places. All materials included in class fee. No experience necessary, tenacity required. This class is fun hard work. You will leave with an amazing custom ring.

What to bring to class
Classes are an intimate 4 students at a time, I am able to give you each individual attention.
I provide all tools and stones for your class. Your silver will be weighed at the end of class and you will pay me spot silver price for that extra. I accept cash, check or Venmo or PayPal. This workshop explores metalworking fundamentals and is perfect for those who wanted to learn traditional jewelry fabrication skills. Students will develop hand skills, good studio habits, an appreciation for quality craftsmanship, and essential fabrication techniques while designing and producing one-of-a-kind jewelry.
This class requires you to work with tiny details and demands hand dexterity. It also demands you see small details bring close up reader glasses if you think you need them. Students will learn to cut and pierce out shapes from the metal sheet using a jeweler's saw, and file, stamping metal, how to use a flex shaft, add texture to surfaces. Setting stones and fine finishing your piece.
Please bring patience, openness and reading glasses if needed. No flowy sleeve blouses. Long fingernails will make it very difficult to work with your hands. Long hair should be tied back around the torch. Classes involve fine motor skills and the ability to work on a small scale. This will require a bit of (fun) hard work. I suggest you wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty. The Studio is a hip little spot just above Brewery gulch in historic Bisbee. My studio is a well equipped space. . Each student has their own workbench, flex shaft, hand tools, etc. There is a soldering station with ventilation. There is an anvil with loads of hammers, stamps and other forming tools. I have an amazing collection of gemstones for you to choose from for your project.
I have focused on the Jewelry arts for 42 years. I feel honored to carry on a long tradition of working with my hands and heart, using ancient techniques and tools. As a metalsmith I am a stewert of this profession, and it is my responsibility to pass this knowledge and information on. I have shown my work in galleries and museums all over the nation and internationally including the Smithsonian Institute of art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and published in numerous books and magazines. I look forward to sharing my skills and tricks of the trade with you. Join me for a ring build workshop in Bisbee Arizona . You will learn all the skills needed to build an amazing stone ring or necklace your choice of so many beautiful cabochons turquoise, wild horse, white buffalo , varisite and many many other stones. . Skills you will learn include sawing, filing, measuring and building a bezel and a decorative border around your stone, setting a cabochon and so many other techniques. You will solder parts of your ring but I will solder the bezel down and the big soldering tasks or assist you with the soldering. Soldering takes a lot of practice and the time constraint of the class usually requires my help in that step. No experience necessary, tenacity required. I have 42 years of jewelry building experience, let me guide you through the steps for you to competently take these skills home to apply in your own workshop. Included in the workshop cost is instruction and all materials included except the sterling which will be weighed at the end of class and you can pay me at the end of class.

Men’s Ring Class
You will build a very cool ring learning loads of skills. Sizing, sawing, stamping , some soldering, bezel setting. I have a great selection of stones for you to choose from. . Please join any ring class to build your custom perfect fit ring. class is fun hard work.
Stack Rings with a focus on Soldering
This class will focus on soldering with demonstrations and hands on exercises. You'll learn how to make soldered connections using simplified, professional techniques, you will have the option of a Smith lil torch using propane and oxygen with regulators. Also we will have a butane torch good for smaller projects. This class will cover soldering tools, materials, fueling and lighting your torch. Rather than focusing on the big end product like our main ring class where I do the much of the complicated soldering this class is more technique building with you soldering all your parts and pieces. Ending a with a small stack of 3-4 rings and one small stone ring you will bezel set. All materials included I have a beautiful selection of gemstones for you to choose from including peridot, tourmalines, turquoise, apatite, labradorite and lots of other choices.
Trout Agate Workshop
Trout Workshop
You will make a trout pin or necklace using silver and a piece of Montana agate from the Yellowstone river and or a piece of wooly mammoth ivory. You will also construct a small silver dry fly for the clasp. This class will take about 3-5 hours. All materials included.
Brand Class
Livestock Brand Pins + bandana slide:
Embellish your hat, purse or neck with your custom cattle brand. All materials will be included with class. This class runs 2- 3 hours bolos take longer. you will have time to make 2 or more pins.

In your free time explore the fascinating sights of Bisbee Arizona, the studio is located in the heart of historic Bisbee is walkable to all the live music, restaurants and mining museum. Old stairways walking , hiking , a fabulous magic show, buskers or just sipping coffee in a a coffee shop. Bisbee is truly a photographers paradise. This is a perfect gals getaway. I have a great air b and b two doors down from the jewelry school and in the center of the best part of town. Text me before you book accommodations I have recommendations so you are in the fun and leave your car behind for the entire weekend. I recommend you stay in old historic Bisbee and not to book in Sierra vista or tombstone the fun is in Bisbee the outlying areas are to far away and you miss the fun vibe of Bisbee. Bring good walking shoes and your artists curiosity.
